Want to Improve Your Golf Game?
Start by Improving Your Posture.

After eighteen years of working with golf clients, I'm convinced that posture is one of the most overlooked areas in fitness -- not only when it comes to general fitness training, but also in training golfers. So my premise is this: improve your golf posture, and you'll see a better swing, increased power and improved accuracy in your shots.

The Posture Assessment
A key component in beginning your comprehensive golf fitness program, the posture assessment is performed to help uncover problems that may be contributing to limitations in your swing.

When developing personalized exercises for golfers, I begin by observing your normal standing posture as well as your golf posture at address. This tells me a lot about how your body is working and what restrictions there may be when you're swinging the golf club.

A Few Words About Posture
It's important to keep in mind that I am referring to more than just sitting up straight or not rounding your shoulders. The entire body, from head to toe, was designed to be aligned in a precise manner and to function and move in specific ways. When you're "out of alignment"—or out of muscular balance—your muscular function and movement patterns are limited.

How Posture Impacts Golfers
With the golf swing, the most common postural problem – and the one that contributes to problems with your swing – is the forward shoulders, forward head and rounded upper back. This slouched position makes it really difficult to get in good posture at address. It also significantly limits your shoulder turn, or what we call thoracic rotation. The “shoulder turn into the back swing” is dependent upon proper alignment of the upper back at address.

Tight muscles and restrictions in the upper back not only prevent you from maintaining good posture at address, but cause bad positions in your swing. And, you know what a bad golf swing can result in. That's right, a lousy golf shot! Which is why we say, "improve your posture and watch your game improve".

My goal at Golf Fitness Chicago is to ensure that exercises for golf are developed in a personalized fashion, focusing on the weakest link. Problems and restrictions in your golf swing ultimately come back to your posture.

A well-designed golf fitness program will make a significant difference in not only your golf posture but your total game.
